Eric Leander focuses his practice on business, corporate, securities, commercial real estate, contracts, and transactional law matters, representing established businesses, innovative entrepreneurs, high-growth startups, and investors across a variety of industries throughout New York State and beyond.
Equal parts entrepreneur, business advisor, and attorney, clients consistently choose to work with Eric because of his first-hand knowledge of what it takes to launch and grow a business. Eric's business experience allows him to balance complex legal issues with a practical business perspective. Eric is well-versed in private placements and investment offerings, venture capital, private equity, financial regulation & compliance, corporate transactions, mergers & acquisitions, commercial real estate & commercial contracts.
Eric's goal in representing clients is to develop long-term relationships—often taking on the role of outside general counsel—to ensure that day-to-day legal matters are effectively handled and that clients can focus on what's important: running and growing their businesses.
Eric enjoys being involved in the start-to-finish process of building companies that challenge the status quo. An active angel investor and venture capitalist serving as Managing Director of Square Peg Ventures and as a Venture Partner with Venture University's VU Fund (both broad-based and multi-stage investment entities), Eric enjoys working closely with tech startups, founders, investors and others in the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Most influenced by the likes of Ray Dalio, Fred Wilson, Brad Feld, and Mark Suster, Eric leverages his natural instinct for business along with his expertise in transactional law to seize opportunities as they present themselves and to catalyze entrepreneurial growth wherever possible.
